The Territory

Just like a sculptor who extracts shapes molding the raw stone, Villa Matilde considers the production of wine as an art, based on the land's characteristics.
Every terrior has its own wine.
In Villa Matilde we analyze the soil to determine the unique characteristics and lovingly reflect these elements in the wines that each are peculiar to their particular vineyards.
That's why, thanks to Villa Matilde, you can drink the color of the sun shining on Campania; you can breathe the wind blowing on the Mediterranean Sea; you can taste the intense flavor of this land made up of volcanos and mountains that ideally shelters the priceless treasures this region offers. All these elements are part of the terroir and are thus reflected in the glass.
The heritage produced by Villa Matilde cannot be made anywhere else, because it is a fruit of the terroirs characteristics and the vineyards own special climatic conditions. Soils rich in potassium and phosphorus, alternate with volcanic areas full of typical micro-elements, and tuffaceous soils; everything, here, is at the right place, and represents the pinnacle for unique quality wines.
Grape bunches influenced by the sun and Mediterranean elements are carefully selected during the harvest for the various wines. After which some are matured in cellars, kept in barriques or in oak casks, and then bottled for a period before they are released.
Villa Matilde, estates in Campania today encompass three general areas, each of them different, with their own special stories to tell. But each refelctive of the specific qualities of its own environment: San Castrese and Parco Nuovo Estates, in the province of Caserta; Rocca dei Leoni Estate, in the province of Benevento; Altavilla Estates, near Avellino.
